March 14 is known as the “International Day of the Number Pi (π)” because the numeric date 3/14 is the same as Pi 3.14. Each year the Altamira joins this celebration dedicating this day in a special way to Mathematics.
Yesterday all our high school students, with the support of teachers from the area, paid tribute to the number π (pi). Pi (π) is the relation between the length of a circle and its diameter, in Euclidean geometry. It is an irrational number and one of the most important mathematical constants. It is often used in mathematics, physics and engineering. The celebration had activities and projects related to this number represented as follows: 3.1415926535897932.
